As we get into the spring and summer months, it’s time to revamp your home office so it will look fabulous and inspire you to do your best work. Who wants to work in a drab and boring environment? With the right elegant touches and creativity, your home office will be an oasis where you’ll want to churn out amazing projects for clients. Get inspiration from blogs, podcasts, magazines, and people you know. Another idea is to center your home office around a theme. If you love Southeast Asian decor, incorporate it into your design. Here are some ways to make your home office look fabulous.

Scenic Wallpaper
One cool idea is to use scenic wallpaper on your office’s walls. This kind of wallpaper generally has nature scenes, and since it’s spring, use scenic wallpaper with themes of beautiful green trees, colorful flowers, bright blue skies, and cute animals. Scenic wallpaper brightens any office space, and this is especially great if you can’t always go outside.

Bohemian-Style Home Office
I’ve always loved the bohemian look in fashion and home decor, so I included this idea in the post. Add a patterned handmade rug under your chair, and you must add a few small indoor plants to give the office a touch of nature. Place a big rattan basket or ottoman to store your favorite books and magazines. Mid-century furniture works well in a bohemian home office since it provides a retro vibe. Instead of a boring metal or wooden chair, use a wicker chair.

Add a Gallery Wall
A gallery wall of bold-colored artwork and some family photos adds pizzazz to your home office. Choose pictures that inspire you the most. If you love inspirational quotes, buy some posters with quotes, frame them, and create a gallery of these. Bring a minimalist touch to the gallery with black or white framed abstract art in neutral tones such as gray, tan, or beige. Travel buffs can frame pictures of their trips and turn them into a gallery wall.
Experiment With Lighting
Your home office’s lighting should be functional but still stylish. A brass chandelier can be used for decorative purposes, but a silver or copper desk lamp will work for daily tasks. Wall sconces brighten your space, and they highlight the photos on your gallery wall. Natural light is the best for daytime because it boosts your mood and it provides adequate task lighting. Install sheer curtains or blinds to bring in this lighting.

Decorate With Calm Colors
The right colors can set the mood for your office. Paint your walls a soft blue and then accentuate with blue and white furniture and decorative pieces. Blue is a calm color and it’s not too overpowering. Another calm color is soft green. Some variations of soft green are sage green, mint green, and olive green. Combine the soft blue or soft green with gray tones for a balanced color scheme.

Bring the Tropics In
Since summer is almost here, why not bring the tropics to your home office? Hang up some tropical-themed wall canvases and combine three to four bongo drums to create a unique desk that reminds you of vibrant Caribbean music. Bamboo rugs and blinds are also cool accessories for a tropics-themed office. Put some bright-colored patterned throw pillows on the office sofa. Finally, a fruit bowl on your bookshelf will make the look complete.

Go Coastal With It
If you love the beach and are inspired by coastal-style decor, incorporate this into your office’s design. The color scheme should include beige, light blue, tan, gray, and white. Blue can be the accent color in the office and one idea is to place a blue upholstered chair behind the desk. Take some mason jar and fill them tiny seashells and clear beads to be put on your shelves. A white crochet rug can go underneath the upholstered chair.

Create a Black and White Home Office
A black-and-white home office is simplistic yet elegant. Put up patterned black-and-white wallpaper, and you can pair a black chair with a white desk. If you’re into old Hollywood glamour, put a large black-and-white framed picture of a famous legend such as Dorothy Dandridge or Ella Fitzgerald. Sheer white curtains or black blinds also add some flair to this design. Add a black floor lamp near your desk.

Place a Coffee Bar in the Office
Many people love their coffee before they start their work, and you can put a coffee bar in your home office. A rolling cart is good for storing your coffeemaker, stirrers, creamer packs, sugar packets, and flavored syrups. Get some decorative coffee mugs and hang them on hooks above your coffee bar. If you have guests in your office frequently, include two upholstered chairs where they can sit and enjoy coffee and good conversation.

Make It Masculine
If your husband needs a home office makeover, here are some ways to make it more masculine. Give him wall shelves to store his favorite gadgets and most-used accessories for work, such as his chargers, laptop, earbuds, and books. Don’t clutter his desk with fancy decorative objects. Put a few framed pictures, a desk calendar, and his planner on the desk. Spray the room with a masculine body spray or his favorite cologne. A wooden drawer set or cabinet is a neat way to keep his things organized.

Step Into Midcentury Style
My mom loves mid-century style, and she remembers this decor from childhood. I’m more into bohemian decor, but there are elements of midcentury style that are similar to the bohemian look. Bring in vibrant colors for your midcentury office decor. Maybe you can put a yellow or turquoise teak desk in the office then place a shag rug underneath your desk chair. Some funky geometric metallic sculptures on another table add to this look.

Decorate With Beautiful Stationery
Leave boring and drab stationery at the stores. Use beautiful stationery on your desk. This gives you the inspiration to get things done and you can personalize it to match your style. If you have a timeless romantic style in your office, you may have a pink or coral-colored floral planner with the words written in calligraphy style. You may also have a porcelain pen holder and ink pens with flower tops.
Whether your version of fabulous is sleek minimalism, cozy midcentury charm, or a vibrant explosion of your personality, the key is to infuse it with elements you truly love. So, take those ideas, trust your instincts, and create a home office that you will love for a long time.
