Quick Habits For A Cleaner Bathroom Without Extra Work

Here are some quick daily habits to stick to for a cleaner bathroom.

Your bathroom should be an oasis where you can relax after a long day, but that’s hard to do when the bathroom is a disaster. There will be times when you’ll need to spend an entire day or a few short hours on cleaning your bathroom, but what if you stuck to regular habits that kept your bathroom clean every day? Here are some quick, regular habits for a cleaner bathroom.

Stock Up on Cleaning Tools

Reduce frequent trips to the store by stocking up on the tools needed to clean your bathroom. These supplies include:

  • Toilet bowl cleaner
  • Glass cleaner
  • Disinfectant spray and wipes
  • Bleach
  • Cleanser
  • Air freshener
  • Scrub brushes
  • Rubber gloves
  • Bucket

Clean the Tub and Toilet Daily

Regular cleanings of your tub and toilet contribute to a cleaner bathroom. Don’t just scrub inside the toilet bowl. It’s also important to clean the outside of the toilet, especially the bottom part of the toilet. Scrub the inside and outside of your tub with cleanser or a shower cleaner. You can also clean your tub with dish soap or Mean Green multipurpose cleaner. I use Mean Green all the time in my house, and it gets the stains out of most things really well. For a more natural approach, scrub your tub with baking soda and white vinegar. Don’t use steel wool to scrub the tub because it causes scratches and marks to appear.

If rust stains are in your tub, cover them with lemon juice and salt. Let the mixture sit on the stains for an hour, then scrub gently with a soft sponge. For mold and mildew in your tub, spray a combination of bleach and water in the tub. Let the solution sit for 10 to 20 minutes, then scrub with a scrub brush or sponge.

Mop and Sweep Bathroom Floors

Another regular habit is to mop and sweep the bathroom floors. Start by removing all mats and vacuuming or sweeping all loose debris from the floor. The next step is to get a bucket and fill it with warm, soapy water. Dip the mop in the water, wring it out, and mop the floor. Work your way from the farthest section of the bathroom to the front section. Scrub stubborn spots or grout lines on the floor if needed.

Wash Shower Curtains, Mats, and Rugs

At least monthly, you should wash your shower curtains, bath mats, and rugs. These items collect so many germs and other bacteria, and they need to be cleaned regularly. Wash shower curtains and shower liners on a gentle cycle in warm water. After the curtain dries, hang it up immediately to reduce wrinkles.

Declutter Your Bathroom

Your bathroom accumulates items quickly, so it’s a good idea to declutter it so it won’t look unkempt. As you go through your items, ask yourself if you need any of the items. Toss out the items you don’t need and organize what is left. Don’t keep expired makeup, skincare products, cleaning supplies, and medicines. Throw away duplicates and broken things.

After you get rid of what you don’t need, it’s time to reorganize everything else. Put your hair appliances in a file organizer, and store your makeup brushes in a mason jar. Install a shelf above your bathroom door and put baskets there for storing extra toilet paper, extra cleaning supplies, and other items you won’t need right away. Use tray organizers in bathroom drawers to organize your toothpaste, floss, toothbrushes, and other dental tools.

Clean Shower Glass Doors

Shower glass doors get grimy and dirty, so you should clean them regularly. Start by spraying the glass cleaner all over the doors and letting it sit for 15 minutes. Then, take a microfiber cloth and wipe down the glass doors. This is a task you should do daily or weekly.

Clean Toothbrush Holder

The saliva and water from toothbrushes leave germs in your toothbrush holders, so you want to clean them weekly. Remove the toothbrushes and then fill up the holder with warm water and dish soap. You can also spray the inside of the toothbrush holder with a multipurpose cleaner. After you brush the inside of the holders, rinse them out and dry them on the inside.

Don’t Forget About the Showerhead

To clean the showerhead, fill a bag with white vinegar and then tie it on the showerhead with a rubber band. Let the bag stay under the showerhead overnight and remove it the next morning. Finally, rinse off the showerhead.

With these effective tips, you’ll have a cleaner bathroom and you’ll enjoy it more.
